Auntie can you do this?

My little designers gave me a flyer that they received in school about recycling.

This flyer had fashions that looked wonderful.

The clothes were made of telephone books, cans, target bags and crushed glass. Basically trash but they were beautiful clothes.

Take a look at the recycled fashions that this woman made and wore in the fashion show at the little designers school.

So what am I to do when the little designers who honestly believe I can make anything, Ask Auntie can you do this?

To reuse material that would be trash and make a beautiful, wearable dress.

I guess I will give it a try!

My discovery!

As a little girl I did not play with dolls, did not play house. I climbed trees and explored how things worked. Tried to make my bike do things it was not meant to do. My mother complain when I was a toddler she would dress me in frilly dresses to play and I would prompty find mud or dirt. My mother and father had a loving relationship but I really did not see my father much. He worked the night shift. I had a close relationship with my mother. She taught me to crochet and make clothes. She kept a beautiful home and was a great cook. I felt that my father did not appreciate her enough so I decided that I would not get married and deal with someone who did not appreciate me. When my mother died it totally crippled my father. FABRIC FAIR! FABRIC FAIR! FABRIC FAIR!

I got the card in the mail today. You would have thought it was an invitation to the presidential gala! THE SALVATION ARMY GREATER PITTSBURGH WOMEN'S AUXILIARY FABRIC FAIR April 5, 2008 9am - 2 pm South Park Home Economics Building I have gone for the last 15 years and only missed one time. I can even remember what it was the stop me from making it at that time. It is the best place to get everything. Yarns, crochet hooks and knitting needles, quilting supplies, crafting materials, books, magazines, patterns,notions , crafting and sewing gadgets of all kinds and of course table and tables of Fabric! Wool for coats and suits, knits for tee shirts and sweats,specialty fabrics for all type of special occasions. Sheers, Lace, seersucker, cotton, silk, polyester, crepe, rayon, solids, flowers and prints. I love it and look forward to it. Today I have finished redoing the hems of two dresses from Old Navy for my sister’s coworker. I am starting on pants that my Auntie needs hems. Both of these items need 5 inches taken off. Short people, I love em! My goal for this week is to complete 3 dresses so I can be finish with my 6 dresses in 6 weeks challenge which turn into “Just complete 6 dresses!” These 3 dresses I have no idea about except that they will have matching tie for hubby. I am going to make them and hopefully he will wear them. I will not be surprised if he does not. My allergies are making it difficult for me to type.
